El valor económico de la lactancia: Un enfoque de valor de uso de tiempo

Objetivo: Estimar el valor del tiempo de la lactancia materna en México considerando la participación de las madres y los retos que enfrentan especialmente las madres que trabajan.Metodología: Se emplea un modelo del valor del tiempo basado en el hogar productor y se estima mediante un modelo logit multinomial no ordenado.Resultados: El valor promedio del tiempo mensual destinado a la lactancia es de $850.6 para las madres que trabajan y lactan, y de $915.4 para las que no trabajan.Limitaciones: La principal limitación es que la encuesta utilizada sólo reporta la frecuencia mensual de lactancia, impidiendo con esto estimar el valor de la lactancia en horas.Originalidad: Esta investigación ofrece la primera estimación del valor del tiempo de la lactancia en México, tomando en cuenta la participación femenina.Conclusiones: Los resultados reflejan la necesidad de políticas que reconozcan el valor económico de lactancia, incentivando y facilitando su práctica dentro del mercado laboral.Descargas
