Code of ethics

EconoQuantum maintains codes of ethics for evaluators, authors and Editors based on the codes of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which can be found in https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Flowcharts

Confidentiality

The Editor and the work team undertake not to reveal or disclose any information related to the manuscripts submitted for publication to any person other than the Technical Committee, Editorial Board, authors, or evaluators. Honesty and intellectual integrity are guaranteed during all the process and after the article has been published.

Respect to a double-blind modality on peer review will be insured, eliminating all hints of authorship in documents, both of the authors and the reviewers.

Except for the institutional affiliation, email, Orcid code and any other information that authors request to include in the text of the articles submitted, author’s personal information will be handled as confidential.

Authors’ Code of ethics

Originality and plagiarism: Authors of papers submitted to EconoQuantum sign an authorship statement letter to ensure that their work is original and has not been previously published, either in print or electronic version, and is not under evaluation in any other publication and has not been shared in electronic media.

Solidity and reliability: The investigation reported must have undergone ethically and responsibly. Authors take responsibility of their work and its contents and must verify that the methods and findings are reported.

Authorship: Authors submitting an article for evaluation shall fairly choose the order of mention according to the contribution of each member of the team; this order will be served by the journal. It is the responsibility of the applicants to grant each participant with the corresponding role (author, coauthor, assistant, collaborator with a mention or acknowledgement in the text, etc.) and timely declare this to the Editor. Collaborators involved shall solve their own authorship-related issues before submitting the manuscript for review. All collaborators mentioned as authors are responsible of the text.

The number of collaborators must be consistent with the functions performed in the investigation and creation of the manuscript, as well as with the requirements of the field of study.

When in doubt, it is recommended to read the COPE resources on authorship (https://publicationethics.org/files/Recognise_Potential_Authorship_Problems.pdf).

In a dispute over the authorship of a text, the Editor, with support from the Technical Committee and/or the Editorial Board, can withdraw the text from the evaluation process, reject the submittal or remove the published article until the situation is cleared.

Collaborations

The Editor shall find the best authors and papers in order to motivate their participation in a journal article (three collaborators per article maximum).

Every article will pass through a peer review process in doble-blind modality.

Quality of contents

The Editor’s decision to accept or reject a manuscript shall be based on the reviewers/evaluators’ suggestions, pondering the rigor of the methodology employed, its contribution to the discipline, originality, clarity, and relevance.

If a bad conduct is found, consequences will be based on COPE codes and flowcharts (https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Flowcharts).

The final decision on the publication of a manuscript will rely on the Editor of the journal.

Author’s rights

Authors publishing in EconoQuantum accept the following conditions:

In accordance with the legislation on author’s rights, EconoQuantum recognizes and respects the moral right of the authors, as well as the ownership of the economic rights, which will be granted to EconoQuantum of Universidad de Guadalajara for its publishing in open access both in digital and printed media. 2. Upon submission of the manuscript, the Editor shall verify that the document complies with the “Directions for authors”. Authors must have signed a commitment letter, stating that their work has not been published and is not being submitted to evaluation in any other journal. If these two conditions are cleared, authors will be granted a “Certification of Manuscript Submittal”.
  3. Once the previous point has been completed, the Editor evaluates the thematic relevance, quality, and methodology of the document. For this first stage of evaluation, the Editor of the journal will rely on the Technical Committee. If the Committee considers that the article does not meet the minimum requirements to be evaluated, a rejection letter will be issued which will be signed by the Editor on behalf of the Technical Committee.
  4. The document shall be of quantitative nature.
  5. The document must be written in academic language and respect the structure of a scientific article.
  6. The document must be of regional, national, or international relevance. Papers on applicability on individual cases will not be accepted.
  7. The document can be written in English or Spanish.
  8. The document cannot contain spelling errors.
  9. The first filter process shall not take more than four weeks after the document upload date.
  10. In addition to compliance with all the previous points, the document must have the approval of the Editor and the Technical Committee. This way the document can continue with the evaluation process.
  11. Standards of evaluation of manuscripts submitted for publication in EconoQuantum after the first filter.

All articles that successfully passed the first filter are evaluated to guarantee its quality, originality and thematic relevance. To do this, the next procedure must be followed, with no exceptions:

  1. After the first filter, the document is sent in anonymous version, to two evaluators/reviewers of a science research institution, national or foreign. Evaluators must be, in every case, renowned researchers specialized in the subject related to the article.
  2. The evaluators shall give their qualified opinion in a period no longer than 4 weeks, following the guidelines of the “Opinion Form”.
  3. If both evaluators have a favorable opinion, the article will be accepted for publication. If the opinion of both evaluators is unfavorable, the article will be dismissed. When opinions are divided, a third evaluator will be called, and his/her opinion will be final.
  4. In every case, under no exception, evaluators’ opinion will be communicated anonymously to the authors of the paper.
  5. When the articles have received a favorable opinion from the evaluators, authors agree to incorporate the corrections they suggested; on the contrary, authors shall express their reasons for not doing so in a letter to the Editor. The author(s) shall upload the corrected document along with a letter, specifying, point by point, the way the observations were incorporated in the new version.
  6. The article corrected and the response of the author(s) are sent for final revision by the Technical Committee and/or the evaluators involved. If the new version satisfactorily incorporates the evaluators’ observations, the article shall be delivered to the Editor, who will fill a “Letter of Acceptance”. Otherwise, he will request the author for a second revision.
  7. Author(s) of an article accepted for publication must sign a letter of liberalization of publication and dissemination rights for their article.
  8. When in case of mixed evaluators’ approval and rejection opinions, the document is sent to a third evaluator. The third opinion will allow the Editor and the Technical Committee to continue the process (see point 5) or definitely dismiss the paper.
